Santa Barbara Botanic Gardens are located in a canyon above the mission in Santa Barbara. On a clear day you can see the mountains and the ocean from the gardens. There are several historic landmarks including the Aqueduct, Indian Steps, the Caretaker's Cottage, and the Campbell Bridge. The garden's plant collections, are featured on 65 acres accessible by over 5.5 miles of public trails. Santa Barbara Botanic Gardens are a wonderful place to spend a few hours while you visit the central coast. This section of the California coast is one of the most scenic areas of the Golden State. Plan on spending several days here.

Pick up a map and head out on your own to discover all the wonders of the gardens. Or try a docent-guided tour for more in depth information. If you walk quietly there is a good chance you will see native wildlife. While you are at the gardens take a look around the garden shop which has gift items, books and a children's corner. The Garden Growers Nursery grows and sells a broad array of California native plants. The nursery is open daily during regular Garden hours. Santa Barbara is a great day trip or an excellent destination for a vacation in California.

The gardens are open seven days a week. March - October: 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. November - February: 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
