The San Francisco Zoo is located right on the Pacific Ocean. It's beautifully laid out and landscaped, and makes for a really pleasant days outing . Cool things for kids to do at the zoo are ride the Dentzel Carousel, take a trip on Little Puffer Miniature Steam or visit the Fisher Family Children's Zoo. You can also rent a a hand-held GPS Zoo Ranger which takes you on an insider's tour of the Zoo through audio and video.
The San Francisco Zoo is Northern California’s oldest and largest zoological park. The zoo houses more than 930 animals representing some 245 species, including 72 mammal species, 37 reptile and amphibian species, 80 bird species and 50 invertebrate species. The San Francisco Zoo has several restaurants offering a variety of food choices and there are also shops selling animal-related gifts and toys for the kids. The animals are well cared for and docents are friendly so next time you are looking for a local day trip give the San Francisco Zoo a try.

The San Francisco Zoo is located on the Great Highway between Skyline and Sloat Boulevards, next to the Pacific Ocean. Open daily 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., including Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. General admission prices are: Adults $11; Seniors and Youths $8; Children age 3-11 $5; and, Children age 2 and under are free. For San Francisco residents: Adults $9; Seniors and Youths $4.50; Children ages 3-11 $2.50; and, Children age 2 and under are free. Parking is $6. The first Wednesday of each month is free for all visitors.
