Sacramento Zoo California “The
zoo in the park”

The Sacramento
Zoo was started way back in 1927 by the City of Sacramento
on 4.2 acres. Today the Sacramento Zoo exhibits
over 600 animals, featuring 150 species of carnivores,
birds, reptiles, and primates. The smaller size of the
zoo makes it perfect for smaller children. Plan on spending
about half a day here. During the summer arrive early when
there's not a huge crowd. To save money pack a picnic
and eat in the adjoining park. Parking is free but admission
will cost about 9 dollars.

The Sacramento
Zoo,
although small, had a good selection of zoo animals
(giraffe, zebra, kangaroo). To make your visit more
of an adventure add the Fairytaleland Park next door to
your trip. Annual attendance is 450,000, with approximately
80,000 school children visiting the zoo each year on organized
field trips. The zoo offers lectures and tours plus picnic
areas, concessions and and a gift store.
