One
of the oldest and most historic lines in California. Visitors
have a choice of two
trains: Santa Cruz beach train or narrow-gauge steam through the
Redwood
groves. The narrow gauge takes you up Bear Mountain through towering
redwood groves. The train stops at the summit and passengers are
allowed to get off and enjoy the huge redwood forest. This trip
is about one hour. The beach train takes you from the Santa Cruz
Beach Boardwalk up the San Lorenzo River Gorge to Roaring Camp.
This trip is about three hours. Both trains are excellent destinations
for day trips in the Santa Cruz area of California. Be sure to
ride the Giant Dipper roller coaster on the Santa Cruz boardwalk.
