Destination Guide to the Golden State California Day Trips

Pismo Beach California

Midway between San francisco and Los Angeles you will find this classic California Beach town. Pismo Beach central coast location has allowed it to retain it's nostalgic California beach town atmosphere. No where else in Southern California are you able to drive and camp right on the beach. South of the pier are 8 miles of towering sand dunes used for four wheel ATV riding. Two wheel drive vehicles are not recommended on the beach but it is possible to drive the beach in the family car if you make a fast run over the soft sand to the hard beach sand by the water. Warning: If you get stuck it will be expensive getting towed back to the pavement. Their are ATV rentals and Hummer tours if you decide not to take a chance with your two wheel drive vehicle. In town you will find restaurants and lodging to fit any budget and taste. Just up the coast is Morro Bay and Hearst Castle. Inland you can visit more than a dozen picturesque wineries. California's central coast has still has a 1960's feel about it. Pismo Beach is Classic California at it's best. Perfect for a long weekend or an entire vacation. Don't miss out on the fun visit Pismo Beach soon.
