Pismo
Beach Dunes are one of the few California beaches where it is legal to
drive your vehicle on the sand. There are about 3,500 acres
of dunes in the SVRA with about 2,000 acres off limits. Driving
on the beach is for four wheel only. The family car can
make a dash across the soft sand to the hard sand next to
the water, but if you don't make it it's a very expensive
tow out of the sand. There are quite a few places to rent
RTV's so if you do not have 4WD it;s best to walk or just
enjoy the view from the paved parking lot. Pismo Beach is
a wonderful central coast town and one of the best beaches
along the west coast of California.
