Destination Guide to the Golden State California Day Trips

Mission San Jaun Capistrano

Mission San Juan Capistrano - The mission was founded more than two hundred years ago and today is a major Southern California tourist destination. Start your day trip early to enjoy the gardens and mission before the tour buses start to arrive. These pictures were taken at 8:30 am when the Mission opens to the public. Some of the points of interest are: the Great Stone Church, museum rooms, soldiers barracks, mission rose garden, and the olive millstone. Just outside the entrance to the mission are numerous shops and restaurants. A short walk will bring you to the Los Rios Historic District. Mission San Juan Capistrano is located at the Corner of Ortega Highway & Camino Capistrano. Take Interstate 5 to Ortega Highway, West one block to the entrance on the right.
