La Jolla Cove, California

This small San Diego Beach has been photographed by visitors from all over the world. The waters of this beach are reserved for swimming and diving only. Visibility at the Cove can sometimes exceed 30 feet. Before entering the water check with the life guards for current surf conditions. Just a short walk will bring you to the local shopping district with restaurants and gift shops. Beach front hotels are also available if you plan on spending a long weekend or vacation. The Cave Store on Coast Blvd. has a tunnel carved into Sunny Jim's cave and is the only La Jolla Sea Cave accessible by land. For a small fee you can climb down the 144 steps and view the Pacific Ocean from inside the cave. Kayaks can also be rented by the more adventurous visitors. La Jolla is just one of many interesting places to visit in San Diego. There is no public parking lot for La Jolla Cove arrive early to secure one of the limited street parking places.

Directions: Interstate 5 to La Jolla Village Drive, westbound. Turn left on Torrey Pines Road at the signalized intersection. Follow Torrey Pines Road to the signalized intersection at Prospect Street and turn right. Watch for the signs and bear right on Coast Boulevard.
