The age old question parents have to grapple with every weekend is, what are we going to do today? Well we can help with these five fun day bay area day trips. All of these adventures can be made in one day of less an your kids will love them.
First up and in town is the San Francisco Zoo. Kids of all ages will enjoy a trip to this Children will love all the attractions like the hands-on Children’s Zoo, the flock of shockingly pink flamingos, Grizzly Gulch, the giant anaconda and the Little Puffer train.
Inside, the zoo is divided into regions, and exhibit highlights include a world-renowned lemur forest, a family group of western lowland gorillas and an exhibit with its kangaroos and wallaroos.

From the museum, visitors can walk the Presidio Promenade down to Fort Point, where they can enjoy a majestic of the Golden Gate Bridge

Inside the zoo, visitors can board the “Sky Ride” and travel high above parts of the zoo that cannot be visited by foot. Soar over of bison and Tule elk on your trip across the zoo.
The Oakland Zoo is a wonderful blend of animals, play areas, and rides for kids.
Getting to the Oakland Zoo is easy by car, taking the MacArthur Freeway to Golf Links Road exit and following signs to the zoo.

Sonma Train town is an easy day trip from anywhere in the bay area. There is a small fee for park rides and train tickets but no general admission fee for visitors who prefer to keep their feet on the ground and skip the rides.
Be sure to bring a camera to capture the kids’ bright eyed, excited faces enjoying the sights and sounds of this colorful theme park.
Free parking is available in the small lot outside the park. There is also free street parking on Broadway (Highway 12) or nearby Clay Street.

Our final bay area kids day trip idea is Jelly Belly Factory in Fairfield. This is a great day trip with kids and it’s free. Arrive early on weekends the Jelly Bean Factory can get busy.
Factory tours are free and last about 40 minutes with a free sample bag of candy at the end. This is where free ends and buying bags of jelly beans start. Also on site is the Jelly Belly cafe where you can enjoy lunch before the trip back home.
