Cambria California Central Coast

 
Cambria California is located 16 miles south of San Simeon State Park. Visitors can stroll along the boardwalk, which runs along the beach for about three quarters. Leffingwell Landing and Moonstone Beach are among the more well known beaches in and around Cambria. Explore the tide pools or go searching through the stone piles looking for treasures.

In town you will find art galleries, shops, boutiques, bookstores, fine restaurants and inns. Nearby attractions are Hearst Castle State Historic Landmark and the central coast wineries.

Cambria is the perfect place for a bike ride, walk or leisurely drive along coast highway or one of the back country roads. Cambria motels and bed and breakfasts make a perfect base camp for visitors to explore the pristine central California Coast.


The Pacific Ocean lends its beauty and cool temperatures to the residents and visitors of Cambria. The rock formations that have been created from years of crashing waves are amazing.

Just across Highway 1 is the forest of huge pine trees that were saved from the lumber industry. All within one walk, you can experience a wide variety of sights, sounds, and smells.

Cambria has quite a few hotels and bed and breakfast places to stay at. If your planning a trip to Hearst Castle and its only about a 25 minute drive from Cambria. Heading in the other direction is Morro Rock which is also about a 25 minute drive.

There are a couple of motels closer to the Castle at Moonstone Beach but selection is limited. Cambria is a great place to stop and enjoy the California Central Coast.

This quaint seaside town is a perfect place to stop on any trip along the coast. Stay for a few hours and enjoy a walk and lunch or make Cambria you base for a central coast vacation. Cambria is where the pines meet the sea in California.

San Simeon State Park - Enjoy the scenic beauty of the Pacific Ocean while camping at San Simeon Creek Campground. Beach is closed to dogs for the protection of the threatened Snowey Plover shorebird.
Morro Strand State Beach - A three-mile coastal frontage park. From the beach, visitors can view the entire Estero Bay, including Morro Rock. Activities include fishing, surfing, wind and kite surfing, kite flying, sunbathing, strolling on the beach, bird watching, and exploring the town of Morro Bay.
Morro Bay State Park - Features lagoon and natural bay habitat. The bay's most prominent landmark is Morro Rock. The park has opportunities for sailing fishing, hiking, and bird watching.
 
Cambria is located 240 miles north of Los Angeles and 240 miles south of San Francisco on U.S. Highway 1. From the south, take Hwy 101 to San Luis Obispo (Morro Bay, Hearst Castle Exit sign) to Hwy 1. From the north, take Hwy 101 to Hwy 46 to Hwy 1.
