State Historic Parks These 35 state parks preserve
some of the most interesting historical places in the golden state.
Most of these parks are staffed by rangers and volunteers that
can explain the importance of their park. State historic parks
are located all over California and include buildings, gold mines,
ghost towns and forts. You can spend many days exploring these
historic places and learn much about California's past on each

Anderson
Marsh State Historic Park - Take Highway 29 north to
the town of Lower Lake, Highway 53 north, 1/2 mile to the Anderson
Ranch Parkway, turn left (west) and follow the signs. |

State Historic Park located on Bodie Road (State
Route 270), 13 miles (the last three are unpaved) from Highway

town. It is all that remains of the last of four Spanish presidios

Ross State Historic Park Located ten miles north
of Jenner on Highway 1. Fort Ross was a thriving Russian-American
Company settlement from 1812 to 1841. |

Tejon State Historic Park From Los Angeles take Interstate
5 to Fort Tejon exit, 76 miles northwest of Los Angeles, on west
side of I-5. On the "Grapevine." |

Encinos State Historic Park Located at 16756 Moorpark
Street in Encino. Take the Balboa Blvd. exit from Highway 101
(Ventura Freeway), go south on Balboa; Moorpark is one block before
Ventura Blvd.. |
Malakoff
Diggins State Historic Park From Nevada City, take
highway 49 eleven miles north to the Tyler-Foote Crossing Road;
15 miles on the pavement, turn right on Derbec Road into the park. |

5 to Old Town Avenue, go east to San Diego Avenue, north to Twiggs

State Historic Park Take Highway 101 six miles south

miles east of Petaluma. a large number of artifacts such as stone
tools, glass, metal, glass beads, and ceramics were discovered here. |

State Historic Park Located six miles west of Redding
on Highway 299. ruins and some of the nearby roads, cottages,
and cemeteries are reminders of the intense activity during the
California gold rush.

State Historic Park Located in downtown Sonoma on
the northeast corner of the Plaza. Parking is limited in town
and along Spain Street. |
Sutter's
Fort State Historic Park Located between "L"
and "K" streets and 26th and 28th streets in midtown
Sacramento. From Capitol Freeway take the "N" Street
off-ramp. |
