Bodega Bay San Francisco Day Trip

Bodega Bay is about a 65 mile drive north of San francisco. Travel time will take about two hours depending on traffic conditions. The little town of Bodega Bay offers shopping, hotels and restaurants.

If you looking for a romantic trip up the coast Bodega Bay could just be the place. For kids there is not a whole lot to do except run around on the beaches. For couples this is a great place to get away from the big city and enjoy each others company.

The Alfred Hitchcock thriller "The Birds" was filmed in Bodega Bay so be sure to remind your partner about the movie as the sun sets and the sea birds come in to roost. Lets hope the birds stay calm and do not disturb the tourist coming up from San Francisco.

The coast from Bodega Bay to Goat Rock is state property and beaches are public. There are several hiking trails or you can rent a kayak and paddle around the bay. Surfing is popular here but the water is extremely cold and often rough. Shopping includes a couple of art galleries and the famous candy and kites store.
